It was more of a safety precaution than anything else. Having someone nearby at night usually meant trouble waiting in the wings,

is this the case here? not to say you need company, but i was under the impression that the main base was secure by various means.

I haven't noticed any breaches in security, but old habits are hard to break. You're right though, things are probably much safer here.
